I’m Nicholas Krul, the founder of Endō and the builder behind every wheelset that leaves this workshop.
I’ve been building custom wheels through Wheelbuilder since 2015 and have hand-built over 1000 wheels, for mountain bikers, road racers and gravel riders across South Africa who wanted something better than what the big brands put in a box.
Endō is the next step.
My choice of rims, my own brand, the same hands and the same high standard.
What I actually do
Every Endō wheelset starts with component selection. I don’t use whatever’s available. I use what I trust.
The carbon rms come from Nextie, one of the most respected carbon rim manufacturers in the world, used by premium brands and reputable wheel builders globally.
I’ve been building wheels with their rims since 2018.
Every rim I select meets a specification I’d ride myself.
Hubs come from H-Works, a specialist hub manufacturer based in Xiamen whose precision engineering and in-house production standards have earned them supply relationships with premium wheelset brands and custom wheel builders worldwide.
Their hubs are built to tight tolerances and designed for long-term reliability and ease of maintenance, which matters more to me than a famous badge.
I tension and true every wheel by hand, check every spoke individually, and don’t sign off on a build until it meets a standard I’d put my own name on. After over 1000 builds you develop instincts the spec sheet doesn’t teach you. I know what a good wheel feels like under load, on a descent, after 10,000 kilometres.
That experience is in every Endō wheel I build.
What Endō is not
Endō is not a warehouse operation. I don’t hold stock. Every wheelset is built to your order, to your spec, with a 6-week build window from deposit.
That’s not a limitation. It’s how you get a wheel built properly.
